Classes & Workshops are held in the classroom at the back of the gallery. You can enter through the backdoor in the alleyway behind the building or through the gallery. Due to the popularity of our classes and the preparation time needed by the instructors, we request that you pre-register for classes online prior to the day of class to guarantee your spot.

SEP 15 | From 1:00PM to 4:00PM
This class is for Beginners or those wishing to refresh their skills and knowledge of the medium! Learn the various canvas/boards/ additives; paint and manufacturer differences; brushes; and techniques. We will have fun trying these experiences, while not worrying we will "ruin" a painting. You will be ready, after class to paint a picture in acrylic and understand what you will need.

SEP 22 & 29 | From 1:00PM to 4:00PM
For Beginners and those wishing to supplement their skills, this workshop will help you develop abstract painting techniques that can be used in your IMPRESSIONISTIC, REALISTIC, OR ABSTRACT PAINTINGS. For the purpose of this class, participants will use acrylics, be learned skills are applicable to all media. Focus will be on techniques rather than a finished painting, and you will learn picture layouts, color components to consider, and how to evaluate your painting needs from a different perspective. In each class, all will be involved in experimental painting. Between the the two classes, each participant will be given directions for further investigation from home, if desired. ALL SUPPLIES are included. Have fun with Jan learning how to incorporate these interesting painting dynamics from the abstract view.

SEP 26 | From 1:00PM to 4:00PM
This is a new class featuring Shrinkers like never before. You will learn how to color, shrink and shape these tiny gems into 2 or 3 stems of unique, fanciful and artful creations.
Barbara Farrell has a BFA/MFA from the University of Miami. She has taught at university level and abroad and is an active working artist in her crafts. Robin Dickerson has been in the arts community for over 30 years, creating commercial/residential commissions in mosaics and extensive teaching experience along with developing her jewelry creations.

SEP 30 | From 1:00PM to 4:00PM
In this 3 hour class students will learn how to create an 8x10 painting using various materials and methods in creating a contemporary version of Pointillism.
Pointillism is a technique used in drawing and painting in which small, distinct dots of color are applied in patterns to form an image. The technique relies on the ability of the eye and mind of the viewer to blend the color spots into a fuller range of tones and adds depth in your work beyond traditional applications. OCT 01 | From 1:00PM to 4:00PM
For Beginners or Advanced painter, our MASTERS SERIES allows Jan to lead you through each Master Painter to develop your rendition of the specific painting with the master in mind, using your particular colors and materials.This is not "copy the painting". The class teaches you techniques used in the painting and is meant as a study for participants to learn and obtain skills to use in their own painting. Although Jan is not an Art Historian, she has studied extensively in the arts and various techniques of the Masters. You'll have fun creating YOUR OWN Wind painting with some of Renoir's techniques and learn his history.

In this 3 hour class students will learn to explore various printmaking mixed media techniques. In a fun & creative atmosphere, you will learn how to create 4 different 6x6 mixed media prints, carve a linoleum block and create various practice prints to take home and enjoy. OCT 20 | From 9:00AM to 3:00PM
Have you every started working on an acrylic painting for a couple hours, and not have time to work on it anymore? Or just don't know how to start a specific painting? This class will be a 5 hour immersion in YOUR OWN picture. We will begin with layout and what each participant is needing to accomplish in their painting. You may have a painting that you have been working on, or just beginning a new one. We will have fun developing the painting with techniques and critiques by Jan. She will also demo to the class. Participants needing supplies must contact Jan before class in order to determine needs and related costs. Bring a potluck lunch item to share.

Have you ever considered another medium? Maybe you enjoy acrylic, and watercolor seems too challenging! Or you love watercolor, and acrylic dries too fast! This is your chance to join Jan in experimenting with both media. You will quickly see the benefits of each and the fact that painting in both media will give you extra experience that can be used in either. All Materials are included and all levels invited.

In this class featuring Shrinkets, you will learn how to color, shrink, shape and embellish these tiny gems into two or three stems of fanciful and artful creations designed by you.

Art Journaling is a personal and creative visual diary where you combine colors, words drawings and collage to express ideas, and feelings. There are no rules or pressure to make a finished masterpiece; it's a free-form method for planning, test supplies, create patterns, and relax.
