Yuliya Popkova
“From Cape to Cosmos”
Sept. 30 - Nov. 2 2025
Yuliya Popkova was the Studios’ 1st place award winner from, “In the Heat of the Summer”, a juried event held last June. She is a Florida-based oil painter whose work is filled with color, atmosphere, and emotional depth.
For as long as she can remember, Yuliya has been drawn to art — as a child, she could spend hours completely absorbed in a single drawing. That early sense of focus, observation, and joy in creating never left her. Although she first earned a degree in economics and worked in the corporate world, the pull toward creativity eventually became impossible to ignore. For over 15 years now, painting has been a vital part of her life and professional path.
Yuliya is an active member of the Central Brevard Art Association and regularly exhibits her work in local shows and group exhibitions. She continues to refine her craft through advanced study, workshops, and a deep personal interest in color theory and composition. Her artistic style evolves as she explores new techniques and creative directions.
Growing up in a region where half the year was spent in monochrome winter landscapes, she now draws endless inspiration from the vivid colors and light of Florida. This contrast fuels the bold, expressive palette that characterizes much of her work.
One of her recent series reflects her fascination with the visual and emotional legacy of Cape Canaveral during the golden space age of the 1960s — a time of progress, style, and expansive human dreams. Her work captures that spirit through symbolic landscapes, sweeping skies, and vibrant hues.
Yuliya is also a mother of three and balances her creative practice with family life. Her husband and children are her greatest supporters, encouraging her artistic journey and inspiring her to remain grounded, open, and true to her vision.
