Lynne Rodriguez - Jewelry Artist
My creative journey has been shaped by the many places that I called home, each leaving an imprint on my work. From quiet country landscapes to the vibrant shores of the Caribbean, these surroundings have guided my artistic evolution.
In the early stages of my journey, I had the opportunity to live and work in the Amish country. I became captivated by the bold patterns and symbolism found in Amish quilts. I began making stained glass pieces in the shape of Amish patterns.
Later, my journey took me to the Caribbean, where the rhythms of island life and the beauty of the sea introduced me to sea glass. I began to sell my handcrafted sea glass jewelry in Puerto Rico, the eastern shore of Maryland, and in St. Croix, VI. Living in St. Croix, I learned about Chaney, historic shards of pottery and china. I incorporated the Chaney pieces that I found along the beach into jewelry, keeping the spirit and the past alive in wearable pieces.
During my retirement, a life-altering event tested both my body and my spirit. In the midst of my uphill battle, I turned to art as a source of peace and healing. It was during this time that my work took on a deeper meaning as a personal refuge and a powerful form of expression.
Today, my artwork spans a variety of mediums and I have had the honor of exhibiting my paintings and my jewelry in Cape Coral and Fort Myers., FL. No matter the medium, I create with joy, gratitude and curiosity, always looking for new ideas and eager to explore. Each piece reflects part of my journey, the places that I have been, the struggles that I have encountered, and the beauty that I have found along the way.
