Medium - Oil Painting
I first discovered my artistic side when I was given a basic art kit for my 24th birthday that had watercolors, acrylic and pastels. I had a collection of adult coloring books at the time, and without realizing, I was coloring in basic shadows and adding highlights to the drawings. When I received that basic painting kit, I quickly wanted to learn all the tricks and began looking into every different kind of mediums like gouache and oils. I fell in love with the way I could manipulate oil paints and haven't stopped since.
My inspiration for my themes have been still life, often drawn from objects in my home. I love to look around for what would give an empty wall space some life and color. I was born and raised in Puerto Rico, and that is where my island theme paintings come from.
Being an artist has shown me the power of believing in myself and to always stay resilient.
