Carol Wyles

Medium: Watercolors

Carol Wyles began painting with watercolor in 1982. Her interest did not begin there but recalls as a child she loved to draw churches. She got her inspiration from Christmas cards and spent hours copying them. She remembers that she got pretty good at it. Time and money in her adult years caused her to put her interest in art to the side. Then, in 1982, after health issues, she began painting watercolor with a group at the Advent Church in Viera, Florida under the instruction of Carol Wilen, a woman she recalls as “wonderful”.

Wilen has since passed away but the church invited the group to continue meeting to paint at their facility. Carol Wyles says the relationship with the group of painters she meets with every Tuesday as important to her progress. They critique each other’s work and inspire ideas.

Carol paints close ups of flowers and birds and occasionally loves to paint lighthouses.

“For me painting is relaxing. It is something I wanted to do all my life and now I have the time and money to do it. I feel fortunate that I can now share my experience with others through my art.”
